During WWDC 2024 in June, a number of new Apple Intelligence capabilities were showcased for iOS 18 and Apple’s other software packages; however, these features have not yet been released to devices. We now know that ChatGPT integration will happen before the end of 2025.
According to Mac Rumors, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated on a recent earnings call that ChatGPT will be included in iOS 18, iPad OS 18, and macOS Sequoia “by the end of the calendar year”. September is when we anticipate seeing iOS 18 arrive on iPhones.
When the feature launches, you’ll be able to instruct Siri to forward certain queries to ChatGPT. Additionally, it will be integrated with the writing support feature, which will assist with creating emails, texts, and other types of correspondence.
According to Apple, you’ll be able to create photos in multiple styles with the most recent GPT-4o model. You won’t even need to create an OpenAI account to access ChatGPT; but, if you’re a paying member of ChatGPT Plus, you can connect your account to access additional premium features.
This is essentially evidence that the original timeline is still on track, since Apple did state when the ChatGPT integration was first announced that the functionality will be live by the end of the year. Certain Apple Intelligence capabilities may not be released until after the release of the iPhone 16 and iOS 18, according to some rumors.
Additionally, it appears like Apple is considering introducing additional AI bots in the future, such as Google Gemini. Additionally, it is evident that Apple researchers are working very hard to get Siri up to the level of ChatGPT and Gemini.
